If you were just told you have prostate cancer, read this before you agree to anything.

Most men in your position are offered one of two roads: surgery that removes the entire prostate, or radiation that treats all of it. Both can save your life. Both can also change it. Bladder control and intimacy are the price too many men are told to simply accept.

Here is what many men are never told: if your cancer is localized and caught early, you may not have to treat the entire gland to treat the cancer. Focal therapy targets the tumor itself and spares the healthy tissue around it, including the nerves and muscles that make you you.

Not every man qualifies. It depends on where the cancer is, what the imaging shows, and what the biopsy says. That is exactly what Dr. Jurige determines in your complimentary review. If focal therapy is not right for your case, he will tell you that plainly, too.

Understand the difference

Treat the whole prostate, or target the cancer itself?

01

Whole-gland treatment: what most men are offered

Surgery or radiation treats the entire prostate. For advanced cancer, it can be the right and only choice. But when the whole gland is treated, the structures responsible for continence and intimacy are often in the line of fire.

02

Focal therapy: what qualifying men should know about

Treats the smallest area necessary to address the cancer. The nerves and muscles that control urination and erections are left alone wherever your case allows. Outpatient. And if you ever need it, surgery and radiation remain fully available afterward.

You don't choose the technology. Your case does.
